Still

Still

A Poem by Kailei
"

Letting longing exist without allowing it to lead

"
I do want you,
the way dusk wants light,
without reaching for it,
without asking for it to stay.

You exist for me
as a tenderness
I do not follow,
but do not deny.

There is a version of the world
where I lean closer,
where the space between us
does not ask so much restraint.

I feel it sometimes,
that almost,
soft and persistent,
like rain against glass.

I do not step into it,
not because it lacks beauty,
but because beauty
is not always a place to live.

So I let the wanting be quiet.
I let it sit beside me,
without turning towards it,
without giving it direction.

It does not need permission,
and it does not get command.
It is only a feeling,
and feelings can pass.

You are something I carry
without touching,
like standing close enough
to feel the rain shift.

The sky stays open.
Nothing resolves.
The weather continues,
unanswered.

Very profound and thoughtful. I see a knowing and a wondering at the same time and you are ever looking.
This is beautiful.
