I miss the sound of typewriting

I miss the sound of typewriting

A Poem by Kate AKS
"

Creation of the poem

"
I miss the sound of typewriting,
When every letter is stamped
into the words in line.
Till the bell announces the border of the page
As an older tram in
Mine seven hundred and a half
aged town.
To start a new line,
To print your thoughts
With black powder
Which left each letter
On the paper.
Imprint your power in words
Ripping apart the tiny body of the paper.
To put a new page
After a mistake ruined all your writing.
To think before each word,
Not wait what Word suggests to you.
Be a creator with fear
Of a blank page on the cylinder,
Which moves as moves each line.
I miss the sound of typewriting,
I need to tap the heartbeat of the poem.

' I miss the sound of typewriting,

I wonder if the pitch of click-click-click of a typewriter's sound is - in fact, music to some people's ears? A little child will happily play with a wooden spoon on a wooden, cardboard or metal lid and can sway or bounce to its sounds - has been noticed and smiled at so often - not unlike that tick-tick of a typewriter! In fact there is a video etc recording of someone playing a typewriter to a piece of music.. and same used to be used at secretarial classes! Can only suggest that those that want to should/could buy up old typewriters before they bec ome priceless and very worth saving as a few are!

Worth trying carboot sales - could buy one too large to store! Great poem here along with a charming touch of nostalgia! Many thanks for sharing, Kate AKS

We become friends with things like this old typewriter, don't we? There's comfort in the familiar, while better designs offer no such feelings.
