Bad DreamA Poem by KayHe didn’t do it really; it was a betrayal of mind, not reality. Thoughts conjured the dark waves, fears built high the graves. Insults rose from the iceberg’s base, floating chaotically to give chase. The injury was previously made, not from this incident stabbing in shade. An old wound spun into hyperbole, ten times larger, deeper, and bloody. The phantom menace played on tape; it bore itself as a demon taking his shape. Meanwhile, he was actually far away, going about dutifully towards innocent day. Don’t blame him for the ghost’s crime; accuse the slow healing factor of time. Open your eyes and see you’re awake; only in the dream did your heart truly break. © 2018 KayReviews
