Breathless

The water filled my lungs
As my arms flailed
Attempting to keep afloat

Like a rag doll
I was tossed, turned, smashed
Against the mossy rocks

It went dark.
Continuously I tried
To grab your reaching hand
But time and time again
I'd slip.
