GatewayA Poem by KayrisWritten Spring 2016. Seems relevant with our current... presidential troubles. To be gay in the Gateway Is grievance. Happy, not homosexual. As having to know you're high And mighty, others are low, and muddy. May you pass this mood to other Missourians? Not likely. Love may be passed around yet You may be loathed for it.
We try to dwell in our doings, Those of great duration, and donation. People die by the hands of The people, Sledgehammer to the literal Heads of stationed storeowners, Gunpowder in the blood Of grade school boys and girls, Gushing water flushing out the Rushing city.
You may claim yourself an activist, But through others eyes, You are a feminist. Claim yourself a protester But through others, a problem. Yourself a peacekeeper, Others, a piece of s**t, Oppressing any other Of different color.
Yourself a savior, Others, dictator. Yourself an archway, To others, A wall. © 2017 KayrisAuthor's Note
