Dull and Gray

A poem that embodies the mindset of Alastor Bastille, the Leader of Altera Veritas, who is a main antagonist of my novel series, Legend of Mautau.

In a world that's dull and gray

Standing out becomes a sin

It has not changed to this day

Thus I chose to sin again

The gods that control our life

Think only of their own gain

Achieving victory through our strife

They left me with nothing but pain

Innocence is an illusion

Change is possible if you only dare

To cast aside your confusion

And cease to care

I have no hope left inside

Only a desire to achieve my end

To forget like I was forgotten is what I decide

I need no family, nor even a single friend

Author's Note

I suddenly felt like doing this. For being the villain he is, Alastor is actually a remarkable person who has endured much.

Thank you! Poetry is not my mainstay, but I felt like doing this. It was mostly meant to portray a character's mindset and reasoning, a way of understanding why he does what he does.
