So This Is IT?A Poem by Mind in Mountains
I sit here in the dark, again. This time I listen to the silence, I hear my heartbeat. I have been alone a long time now, just me. Fear scratches at the window. I open my eyes, look outside and see black darkness. The old oak tree has bony fingers this time of year. I slam my eyes shut and see a hand scratching at my mind, to get in. Nothing gets in. Very little escapes. In daylight I see others trying to peek in. They see only darkness. What I let them see. The daylight is full of demons, all trying to get in. Some do get in whilst I sleep. They will never get out. My demons, my legion. I sleep the sun down. The night is mine. To sit, to cherish, to live for. To feel my demons feeding on my flesh, devouring my every thought. I realized tonight I am not alone. I have my demons. In the end they will consume me. I sit here, in the dark again.
