This Forever PlaceA Poem by KateH038For my son, who left too soon….I love you and miss you more than my words could ever accurately describe. RIP baby boy. 8/01/2002 - 12/16/2021
Oh, cruel twist of fate's harsh hand,
That steals away a love so grand, I watch your spirit walk upon a distant shore, Stricken with pain knowing our earthly bond exists no more. A statue exquisitely carved in frozen grief, I find no solace, no rest, no relief, My heart, a shattered, broken thing, No joyful song will it ever again seem to sing. Each step farther away I watch you take, a sad and painful blow, As hope's faint embers cease to exist or give even a hint of a glow, My world transforms into a blurry haze, As though it seems I’m now lost forever in these desolate, darkened days. Tears stream heavy like that of a silent plea, A testament of my love for you, wherever now it is you may be, A spillway of teardrops and pure despair, Reflecting on losses, this which no other could ever compare. The echos of your laughter now slowly begin to fade, While empty, yearning feelings begin to invade. All that's now left is merely an empty space, A hollow void, a forever vacant place. -KH © 2025 KateH038 |
