Popular Choice.A Poem by FireflyThe slow death of a mid-night socialite.
We are known to many,
But thought of by none. The whirl of gossip Fills us with joy, even If just for a moment. The flash of lightning Signalling your soul's Imprisonment, but your Body's destruction. The abomination is mistaken, For Fame. The demand for size zero Can kill, just as any illness. A socialite with an Absence of any appetite, No control over your choice. We feed off of the Limelight, but forever starving. The torture of the media, Drive us towards immortality, But we only find our end. Resorting to the worst, that Thrusts us towards rehab. Churning, twisting and convulsing. Your end is near, too close to prevent, Along time coming, finally arrived. All we want is to be Happy, content with our place, Our roll in this machine. But to find that roll, We will sacrifice our lives. © 2013 FireflyFeatured Review
