Owl by my WindowA Poem by Alex VidmarThis actually happened last night. Thought it would be good to put it into words.
Last night as I sat strumming,
A loud cry interrupted my humming. It was the cry of a demon, It's sound, so inhuman. Then came the hooting, A recognizable call. That "who-who-wh-whooo" Of the Great Horned Owl. I turned out my lights and, Cracked open a shade. And with it's human's eyes, Silent contact was made. Human and Animal, Connection was made. And I could tell, It would never fade. I watched as it left It's perch by my window. And a nearby tree, Was where it flew off to. It stayed in that tree, All night long. A spirit of the night, Where it belonged. I felt like it was Trying to tell me something. A message, maybe? It could be. My silent guardian, My mutual friend. I have a feeling tonight, It'll happen again. I trust that you understand. I trust you all believe. This story isn't a lie. It's real, don't you see? I have this connection, With a demon of the night. A demon who guards me, With all of it's might. © 2012 Alex VidmarFeatured Review
