Nameless for-now

Nameless for-now

A Poem by KItsuko Dragonstar

Do you ever get those thoughts?,
Like if you ever jus died,
Would you even be remembered,
Maybe by your loved one for sure,
Or are you just gonna be another corpse,
Another memory one day to be forgotten,
Another name onto a stone or plaque.

You gotta be scared to right,
personally I’m utterly terrified,
My soul shivers and qivers at the thought,
Being another “nameless” nobody in history,
Being another body to just be barrier,
Being a voiceless nobody again,
IT WAS LIKE I NEVER EXISTED.

One day I’ll be known,
I’ll be remembered for sure,
I REFUSE TO BURN OUT EVER,
I can’t be another nameless body.

We are remembered by those who loved us, so spread plenty of love around on your journey.

We all hope to avoid this fate...And some of us don't realize that we have mattered more than we ever think we have.

I think most of us will be nameless bodies buried beneath the earth or burned to ashes that lay somewhere in the sea, over a mountain, in a vault…. For it doesn’t matter.. but for some they want to be remembered in a grand way….. we will never know the outcome of our demises…. Thank you for sharing
Warmly, B🌷

a speck in the traffic that is life, and there's nothing we can do about it :/

Being known seems great, but attention is not love, and that is what we really want.

There's a quote in some book I read recently (in the last year) that goes something along the lines of "the ones we love never really leave us". It's not really a new concept, I've definitely seen it before but it did jump out at me for some reason when I was reading that story. This is a similar concept but more so the other end. I don't really think there's too many people that truly leave this world forgotten. Sure, all those names in a cemetery don't have meaning to me, but I could probably find someone that they mattered a whole lot to if I had a little bit of time and determination.

That's another great thing about being a writer though, our words shall outlive us.

PS. I think on the final stanza it was meant to be known instead of know.

I like to think that everybody is a living corpse in various states of decay. Fight the decay in whatever state you find yourself in, right? What's that dude's name? Dylan Thomas, "don't go gently..." and all that.
