Somebodys Daughter

Somebodys Daughter

A Poem by Klyn

I used to be somebody's daughter
I was the apple of his eye
"like a reflection in the mirror"
my father would always cry.

Adorned with bows and ribbons
in my auburn ponytails
I really wasn't the girly type though
I preferred snakes and snails

I used to be somebody's daughter
A young girl of twelve all alone
No mother there to direct me
Learning about life all on my own.

After watching all the anger and
the fists falling on the spent
In her daze of self destruction
Her children came and went

I used to be somebody's daughter
Down the aisle he'd walk with me
Grandpa's money is all gone now
Body rittled with disease

Now, I am nobody's daughter as they
have left or forgotten me
through death or drunken stupors
too blinded and can't see

I used to be somebody's daughter
The cycle I have been able to break
The path I've found to forgiveness
And peace I can finally make.
