A Petal and a Pidgeon
A special time for caring
The pre-planned day of love
Some with perfect pairing
The gentle coo of Dove
But what of lonely Pigeon?
So tender is his heart
Nay law neither religion
Will tear his hope apart
Could cactus’ and roses
Share a sweet caress?
Their forbidden love encloses
The mark of their transgress
But what of all souls blinded?
Would it matter much to them?
Both plants long thorns are minded
Each need water at their stem
And so the cactus flowers
Beauty too exquisite to be told
The presence it empowers
Out rules fierce laws that of old
Now said Pigeon sits and ponders
Will Dove notice his pained plight?
Whilst saddened Dove still wonders
Who will join her in life’s flight?
Two not so different worries
Two not so different ave’s
Their love should be a flurry
If not friendship for an age
A special time for pairing
Matter not if laws have bound
A way to give to those all caring
A way to tell them love is found
