I think your book is a good start.

To me it feels like you jump right into the conflict that Alex faces without giving details about who Alex is. Did you intend to do this? How will you continue to engage your readers when you publish more chapters?

I want to know what will happen to the main character next. Like, what turmoil will he face, any other characters he will meet, and will this reaper leave him alone. There are many different angles where you can grab the readers attention.

Something else that stood out to me is the way that you described certain colors like the "dullish yellow" and particular sounds. This is a really good tool to capture the readers attention. What other techniques will you use in future chapters?
