Paranoia and ExplosivesA Story by Kameron Boulton
Having come into some extra cash, my partner in crime and I set our sights on more exciting investments. "And what's more exciting than illegal explosives?" I thought to myself. So, we slumped into the silver Jag and sped towards the Colorado/Wyoming border with Led Zeppelin blaring through the speakers and $300 cash collectively. We stopped along the way to pick up our associate who shall remain unnamed. Our third party member had approximately 3 ounces of high quality, medical grade, marijuana in his possession. Which he and I smoked one and a half of in a parking lot twenty miles from the border. Now, I'm naturally a slightly anxious person, but something about pot awakens the beast in me. I had become something not human, I was a paranoid schizophrenic after fifteen minutes. My palms, hell, my whole body was sweating, my hands could barely be controlled, my breathing was heavy and quick. Everything was moving at speeds too fast for normal human sight, and my heart was like the engine of a speedster on a drag strip. For some reason, my driver and colleague got some sort of sadist enthusiasm from terrifying me to the point of tears by rolling all of the windows down and driving at about 110 miles per hour. After what seemed like a day, we finally crossed the border and lurched to a stop outside a sketchy looking fireworks warehouse. When inside, I was immediately instructed to stick to my partner like water to wet. This one order, I promptly disobeyed and wandered off to browse the selection of explosives. The high was still in overdrive and I was getting more and more paranoid every second. Eyes were on me from every direction. "F**k me, they know the degenerate I really am! They know I'm high as a kite! They'll turn me in for sure!" My mind frantically put this thought together. I felt a hand on my shoulder and almost dropped to my knees to begin begging for mercy. But a wave of awesome relief washed over me when I realized it was only my colleague. We left the fireworks shanty and headed back for Colorado. Where more fun ensued. But that, is a whole other story.
