A Slivered Section, A Piece Or TwoA Poem by Lucinda BogartWritten on Valentine's Day...
If you find a piece of a heart lying on the floor Please don't crush it, it's mine My heart flew apart that time So far flung the pieces flew I knew I'd never find the glue Repairs put off and the dust just grew Crusty pieces scattered, ignored I didn't even care any more What changed exactly I cannot say I do not even know the day A quaver of the universe My destiny took another course Somehow strangely the pieces rumbled Turned about, rocked, and tumbled Synchronization, hesitation, perspiration, syncopation Rhythmic, cadance soft and sweet Something began to move my feet Though the music had long since died Something began to stir inside Hope begat itself anew And steadily it grew and grew Scattered pieces all about Began to search each other out Vibration shook off all the dust Rock and tumble broke off the crust Random pieces found their places As I noticed the smiling faces Still, tread lightly round this heart of mine Please be careful, take your time A slivered section, a piece or two Might fine itself beneath your shoe © 2008 Lucinda BogartReviews
