Everlasting Life Matters MostA Poem by Marcelino Tagaca Jr."A powerful reminder that true worth is not found in temporary gains, but in securing the eternal treasure that outlasts everything this world offers."Everlasting Life Matters MostBy Marcelino T. Tagaca Jr.
In a world filled with constant pursuit of wealth, success, and temporary pleasures, it is easy to forget what truly holds eternal value. People often pour their time, energy, and even their health into things that eventually fade away"money that can be lost, possessions that break, achievements that soon get forgotten, and relationships that may not last forever. While these things may provide comfort and joy for a moment, they cannot give the deepest satisfaction of the soul. The truth is clear: everlasting life matters most. The Bible reminds us that life on earth is but a vapor"it appears for a little while and then vanishes (James 4:14). No matter how much one gains in this world, everything will eventually pass away. What remains is the eternal destiny of the soul. This is why Jesus emphasized in Matthew 16:26: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?” Earthly treasures are temporary, but everlasting life is eternal. To value everlasting life means to prioritize faith, obedience to God, and the pursuit of righteousness above all else. It means living each day with the awareness that our decisions echo beyond this lifetime. Acts of kindness, faithfulness, forgiveness, and devotion to God may seem small, but they are investments into eternity. Unlike material possessions, these cannot be stolen, destroyed, or lost. Moreover, everlasting life brings hope. In a world plagued with pain, injustice, and suffering, the promise of eternal life reminds us that this is not the end. There is a greater reward prepared for those who remain steadfast in faith. The temporary trials we endure now cannot compare with the glory that awaits in eternity (Romans 8:18). Choosing to value everlasting life above everything else is not easy. It requires sacrifice, discipline, and sometimes letting go of things the world says are important. But in exchange, we gain peace that the world cannot give, joy that does not fade, and a treasure that lasts forever. In the end, life is not about how much we collected, how famous we became, or how comfortable we lived. It is about whether we secured the greatest treasure"eternal life with God. Truly, when everything else fades, everlasting life matters most. © 2025 Marcelino Tagaca Jr. |
