Poor Boy

by Marcelino T. Tagaca Jr.

Barefoot on the road of dreams, he walks,
coins may be few, but courage talks.
Hunger whispers, yet he sings,
hope is the fire his spirit brings.

Torn clothes, but a heart so whole,
poverty cannot chain his soul.
For every tear, he plants a star,
proof that greatness blooms from scars.

He owns no gold, no silver crest,
but faith and will within his chest.
The world may call him “poor,” yet see,
he’s rich in dreams, and destiny.

All those who feel lost and defeated should read this one. Despite conditions, the human spirit is unconquerable. The poor boy may have little on the material scale, but he does have hope, and that will see him through.
