Hurried Steps

A Poem by Lisasview
"

As we venture through life we can only hope that we find love that lasts...

"

Hurried Steps

Life's winding vines cling to hurried steps,

as our story unfolds into those

cherished moments shared,

behind closed doors.

Kisses whisper stories we've longed for,

memories still embracing us

… warm and tender.

Treasured pieces we've woven together,

lives filled by yesterday's dreams

finding love where we left it …

in eagerly entwined hands,

holding hearts afloat.

Notions beckon us resume vibrant adventures,

skipping thru hot forests' shining miracles;

endless paths cross, zigzagging thru life,

never yet reaching their ends.

Passions play tender symphonies,

only our souls can hear …

forever together.

Life's winding vines are thought of by many, but only poets contemplate them deeper than brief bookmarks in the tales of outer lives.
I don't know if it's age that does it, but pondering such things is fast becoming my favourite past-time, with accompanying coffee, music or just staring out the window as the present passes, while I pause and reflect on those times past that we each consider important in our own lives.
I found myself humming the funeral march of the marionettes (the theme from Alfred Hitchcock presents) the other day, which made me reminisce on how I used to love that show, which then disturbed my reminiscing, by making me go watch some old episodes again.
That confused me when I asked myself midway through "is this still a reminiscence, or is it something new to be reminded about on another day? I had to lie down after that! 😃
Perhaps one day I will reminisce about the time I tried to explain to you about my reminiscences being or not being reminiscences...
But for now I might need a lie down again!
A fine reminiscence to ponder as we all paint our own picture from your words. Now I'm wondering if I have reminiscenceitis! 😃

This style of writing suits you to a T Lisa. Seems not many folk are fortunate enough to find a life long love, or cannot be bothered to put in the effort, with marriage now becoming yet another disposable, binned at the first sign of trouble.
Hope you are well

Your poem "Hurried Steps" beautifully captures the essence of love and time through its tender imagery and emotional depth. The intertwining of life's journey with cherished memories and intimate moments creates a sense of warmth and nostalgia. I especially appreciated how you used vivid metaphors like "winding vines" and "hot forests' shining miracles" to illustrate the unpredictability and beauty of life’s path. The repetition of love as a constant theme, especially in phrases like "holding hearts afloat" and "passions play tender symphonies," evokes a feeling of deep connection and eternal togetherness, resonating with a quiet, soulful harmony. It’s a heartfelt piece that speaks to the enduring nature of love amidst life’s twists and turns.

I agree with Emmajoy, the painting you selected enhances this poem, makes it pop as the words make you breathless. Nicely penned Lisa.

Wonderfully appropriate painting for a start.. a perfect lure. Great find. As to your words - you lay chapters before your readers even though far shorter but.. you have the skill of using words as if they were starved of appreciation and must be fed, and - that you do by sharing such a true and yet magic relationship, words warm, words passionate. Even more: precious. Many, many thank yous.
