Ultimate Deception- Part 2A Story by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne
5 Years Earlier… Christian had decided at a very young age, that he wanted to be in the Green Berets. At the age of 23 and with 5 years of college behind him, even though his father was against it, Christian made the decision to join the United States Army. His father, Oliver James had been in the Green Berets and he didn't like the idea very mcuh of his son joining up. He had some good memories of being in the Special Forces, but he also had some very bad experiences having been a part of the Special Ops. Experiences he could not share with anyone...not even with his wife or son. Things that 'dug at him' every day of his life. He was afraid for Christian and for his welfare. But there was no talking Christian out of joining. Christian's mother had passed away 8 years ago, but had she still been alive, she would not have wanted Christian to be a part of what she saw her husband go through.
Christian knew he was in for rigorous, heavy duty training after he served his required term in the Army to put in for the Green Berets. He knew it would take much more than the ability to do hundreds of push-ups to make it into the Special Forces. It would take intelligence and an outstanding record of prior military service (at least 3 years) But most of all it would require his very high motivation. Christian had that motivation. He’d had it all his life. Christian had to pass the SFAS Course (the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course), a very selective and competitive agenda. Therefore settling for a minimum score was not an option, Christian had to “stand out” above the rest of the applicants, but he knew he had what it took. He could do 100 sit-ups in 2 minutes and 100 push-ups in 2 minutes. He could also complete the two mile run in 12 minutes. He was physically ready. He was emotionally ready as well and his intellect was 165 on the average IQ test. He majored in un-conventional warfare in college. Christian had what it took to be in the “Special Ops”. His most powerful weapon was his mind. He was highly intuitive, intelligent and focused on anti-terrorism. He had already obtained his Masters of Arts Intelligence Studies degree and a special degree in tactical digital hologram technology, Christian was more than ready to go forward in his long life desire to be in the Special Forces. Location: Army Research Laboratory’s Simulation and Training Technology Center in Orlando, Fla. “A woman”! You’ve chosen a woman to be on assignment with me”, Christian said to the STTC chief engineer, Morgan Stallings. “Yes I have”, Stallings replied, “And a damn good one at that, her name is Lisa Grisby. She is highly trained, just like yourself. I know it’s a very good match”, Stallings said. “In fact, I might even add, I think it’s a match made in Heaven, and in due time, I think you’ll come to agree”. “Alright", Christian replied, "I’m sure you know what’s best in this particular situation, but mind you, I’m leaving my opinions till later…then I’ll let you know whether you are right or not”, Christian said, with a little smile on his face. He knew Stallings had a quick mind and a quick study of people. He trusted his decisions. Even though Christian trusted Stallings, he was also a man who basically trusted no one like he trusted himself. The need of mental integration was an absolute necessity in the Special Ops, but Christian was trained to use his mind to the highest degree and the slogan he learned to believe in was…”Trust no one, tell your secrets to no one, therefore no one can betray you”. Christian believed those words wholeheartedly.
