IN THE AFTERGLOW OF OUR LOVE

In the afterglow of our love
Like doves in flight we gracefully soared
Wings spreading over land and sea
Up and above the clouds we flew

Then we shed our glorious wings
To keep tethered to earthly ground
Colored feathers faded with age
As the sun held us in its love
~
Now you’re a shadow in my tear stained heart
Of unheard whispers in misty memories
My hands reach out to touch your face
Only to find a stillness in a subtle breeze
~
Your reflection plays on still waters now
Everything carries me to you
Kissing places in my dreams
Of many nights I smiled

~
Your silent footprints echo in the darkness
Of faded hours that have fallen

In your last memories...
That whisper softly in these rooms
