Love Or Lust?

Love Or Lust?

A Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne

The difference between love and lust

Lust comes on thickly…

Much too quickly

When is too far too much?

It’s like driving a car without a clutch

Not really caring how someone feels is lust

Quickly ignites then just as quickly turns to dust

Whispering sweet nothings in someone's ear

When secretly they really don’t  even care

Love is that someone you can’t live without

Knowing you’re loved without any doubts

Love is singing something soothing to your ears

Someone to hold and wipe away your tears

While love gently fills you up

Lust is selfish and unjust

Love is like a precious song

Dancing close with the one you belong

Lust surges with self-hungry thirst

Depending on whoever gets to you first

Love grows through time and trust

While lust is just that…selfish lust

Which would you rather have as your hearts must?

                            Because...

***Ttrue love really is …Wonderful  Lust ***

Nice experimental work, Beyond the Love.......

I think love can withstand many harms and hurts but lust cannot. Very often, we speak of love, when all we really want is lust. Your poem is a good examination of this prickly question. Well written.

Not really opposing subjects but the ideal is a careful blending of the two. It's safe to encounter or even employ lust when the true love is deep enough. Passion can be felt and enjoyed in more ways than one. A nice piece of perspective my friend.

Yes, I agree, do we jump from wanting to rip each others clothes off to wanting to be with the person forever all the while in deep worry of losing of falling away, a perfect piece, well done

A beautifully written poem that asks a very important question. Does the intense heat of lust turn into the steady burn of love or into the cold ashes of indifference. Beautiful my friend.

Your poem is written so gracefully and so true. Lovely flow and soft feelings throughout. A very endearing and well written poem.
