Phantom Of Dreams

Phantom Of Dreams

A Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne

It was a dark, heavy moonless night

scorched by painful piercing dreams

Eerie noises rumbled in the distance

you could smell the dispassionate mischief

that hung heartlessly in the air

The inarticulate phantom of dreams

wandered about, hunting in the night

He afflicted the air with his evil ways

swallowing his hunger for convenient prey

A flawed soul, forward and backwards

Misguided wars rumbled angrily in his mind

Menacing, dark sorrows wrapped their demons of hate

shaped by so many twisted mistakes

He felt glorified in his evil

internalizing his hate in a world of chaos

Drawn to torment by his demons raging inside

he loitered about in dreams searching for his prey

slithering like a snake in the darkness…

waiting for a vein to bleed

of some unsuspecting victim

A phantom predator…

with an evil smile on his face

Eyes that revealed no soul

savaged by his own fear he held so deep inside

He's an ugly part of reality

Beware of those who seek to capture you

be very, very vigilant in your dreams at night
