Single Malt

Single Malt

A Poem by Tricia Pattinson
"

A newsletter came to me today where in it was spouted single malt whiskey's cancer curing properties. In my opinion, this touting of whiskey's healing properties is no more than snake oil peddling.

Single Malt
by Tricia Pattinson

You brew the barley
Don't forget the rye
Ready be the single malt
Deliver those promises of good stuff

What did the drunkards buy?
Was it horse piss colored roses?
Lipstick to cover over?
Privilege for acting out abuses?

It was the mallarchy of reality
The drowning of fake desires
The rising of sunken deep
For pennies, let loose the wild pig

Very interesting piece you have here. Never quite heard malt used in this way or in any poem for that matter. Nicely done.
