I'd Rather Be A Fool

I'd Rather Be A Fool

I'd Rather Be A Fool
by tricia pattinson

What soul is greater?
The soul that takes from others?
Or the soul that gives even to the grave?

Do not all souls struggle in the world?

In all souls there is a lack of gravity
In all souls light is nourished mysteriously -
When evil and good together stir - arises wisdom

Like the left and right hands of a magician

Be not beguiled by those who speak piously
Look between their hands and see their deeds
Listen to their hearts by watching their feet

Do they build in service with love or incite looting with fear?

The hierarchy is a construct of ego and possibly of hell
Determines first and last, greater and lesser
Even a heart beats or not and is fretted!

The soul is limitless, unfretted and free to dive or climb!

I cannot possibly know better another soul
Than to know the soul within
To try or believe I could would be a misstep

I could drown my mind with beliefs or blossom with self esteem!

On the edge of the cliff stands all souls
Discussing with Source the next best step
Left or right, back or forth, twirl then step forth

But I'd rather be a fool who dances off the cliff!

My favorite form of writing is the short story where every no-essential word is omitted and all that remains is the necessary. This poem is like that- essential. Thanks
