Unrequited Pt. 1

A poem I wrote when I had a huge crush on my friend who was dating someone else.

My heart hurts

My mouth is dry

My throat is closed

I want to cry

 

Falling for you

That was a mistake

The pain I feel

Makes my smile fake

 

Our journey ended

Before it could begin

Tears slide down

To the tip of my chin

 

We could've been great

You and I

But we'll never be

Because you're blind

 

These feelings I have

You'll never see

Because you're oblivious

And incredibly naïve

 

You belong to another

And though that's not fine

I'll settle for your friendship

Since you'll never be mine
