Rainbows and Daisies

Rainbows and Daisies

A Poem by Whiskurz

She ran through fields of daisies
Chasing her pot of gold
On the tail of every rainbow
She was only six years old
"Someday I'm gonna catch one"
She always used to say
I didn't have the heart to tell her
That soon she'd pass away
Stricken with cancer at the age of three
She lived life full and tall
I've questioned God so many times
Why take one so very small?
She fought hard those final days
It happened in the spring
She never found her pot of gold
That the rainbows always bring
It's hard to see the rainbows now
The rain's just not the same
I still see her in those fields sometimes
Playing that childhood game
We Buried her in those daisy fields
Deep beneath the ground
We marked it with a wooden cross
Where my gold can still be found
