Perfection's Coal

Perfection's Coal

A Poem by Whiskurz

The eyes are the windows to the soul
Look deep and you will see
An unpolished diamond, perfection's coal
Aching to be set free
Like a baby in its mother's womb
Trying to find it's way out
Searching for light on its way to the tomb
Heaven now turns to doubt
Like an echo lost to the darkest night
Trying to find its way back
Exposing the truth on its way to the light
Seeing the things that we lack
Like reprobate whispers confused by the breeze
Not knowing which way to blow
Trying to decide which moments to seize
Complaining that time is too slow
Yesterdays fall like clouds full of rain
Todays, now covered with strife
Perfection's coal, no more than a stain
But also known as life

Amazing write. The emotions are right above the surface clouded in pain. There is an honesty about being lost and confused that makes this imperfectly perfect.

Nice poem...very lyrical...and coming from a coal-mining family, I like the metaphor^^
