Buried Love

Buried Love

A Poem by Whiskurz

I had to attend a funeral today
For an entire family died
They died a slow and painful death
But I was the only one who cried

First I buried the one called Trust
He died one broken promise at a time
People said he looked so very young
And that he left us before his prime

And then I had to bury Honesty
He died from a disease called lies
But without the antibiotic we call truth
Honesty always dies

Then I had to bury Forgiveness
For he just simply got too old
I had to use him over and over again
Because of all the lies you told

I buried all these things to do with love
But still I wasn't through
I had to bury all of my memories
And then I buried You

I find myself, as always when I read your work, both very impressed and extremely humbled. You use such simple language and yet the meaning in this poem was very heavy. I connected with it from the first line, and the last line was, in my opinion, the perfect ending.
