A New Year

A New Year

A Poem by Whiskurz

A prism stains the sands of time
Where rainbows fear to go
While shining light on better days
Forgiveness starts to show

A new beginning starts to rise
To bury past mistakes
As one year passes in the night
A new one always wakes

Looking back while moving on
We see where we have been
We can't undo what we have done
But we're sorry for our sin

One day older but none the wiser
We cross the great unknown
We take the path that fate demands
To see what life has sown

A brand new world of hopes and dreams
Will meet the coming dawn
And one more year will start anew
For another has come and gone

Love this Whisk.. the beautiful rhythm and rhyme, the depth of your words... I feel the loss and renewal. This piece begins a bit solemn and ends with a moment of anticipated bliss. I love that positive ending. Wonderful work!

Thank you Lori......Whisk
This is really beautiful and it makes me nostalgic for years gone by and a little anxious about what a new year will bring, stanza four resonates mostly with me, what a wonderful poem you have penned :)
