The Raven's Revenge

The Raven's Revenge

A Poem by Whiskurz

Please dear muse don't let me die
The raven steals my soul
Please frown not at this poet's cry
For my life's in your control

Why must I write the things of death?
Why does the light so fade?
'Tis the smell of whiskey on my breath
This is the bed I've made

A thief has stolen my sweet Lenore
I fear he comes for me
I know not what life has in store
But pain and misery

This raven will not go away
He waits 'til my demise
Even before my bones decay
He'll feast upon my eyes

Be gone damn bird, leave me be
My time has not yet come
I long once more to again be free
Back where I started from

Ahhhhh, i enjoyed Poe's, "The Raven" almost as much as my namesake, "Annabel Lee" but your response to it was so clever and fluid, I feircely enjoyed this, and admire your skill.

nice write

Very Poe-ish, my fav stanza is the second one, a man who has watched the death of his love and then knowing the raven comes for him as well...very dark and deep. wonderful actually.
