Autumn's Whisper

Autumn's Whisper

A Poem by Whiskurz

The Autumn wind whispers to the trees
'It's time to set your leaves free'
But the leaves hang on, refusing to go
While cheating their destiny

Then Fall once again, talks to the trees
Softly, without raising her voice
'Summer has ended, it's my time to shine,
You really don't have any choice'

Now the leaves get flustered and angry
As each one starts turning red
Yet still they hang on, refusing to go
Not caring what Autumn has said

Now Autumn shouts, in the wind's mighty voice,
'How dare you not heed my call'
Then the leaves relinquish their hold to the trees
As each one begins to fall

The trees wave their limbs in a sad farewell
As the winds of Autumn sing
The leaves lay dying and whisper goodbye
'Til returning again in the spring
