The Taste of Goodbye

The Taste of Goodbye

A Poem by Whiskurz

I've often wondered if words have taste
Words like I'm sorry and goodbye
Can you taste the words you say to me
Each time that you tell me a lie?

Your face distorts with three little words
I love you means nothing to me
You never smile whenever they're spoken
The way it's supposed to be

I can tell you I love you everyday
You answer with only, "Me too"
The words are meant to come from your heart
But I can tell it's something you chew

You give me a kiss but I can taste your shame
You can't even look in my eyes
The taste of goodbye sit's on your lips
A taste that your heart denies
