Living the Ordinary Life

Living the Ordinary Life

A Poem by Laura Harrison

I don’t need to become famous

I don’t need to make my name known

I just need to die knowing

That I made at least

One person’s life worthwhile

I don’t need to make loads of money

I don’t need fancy houses and cars

I just need to do something I love

And stay true to who I am

I don’t need to travel the world

I don’t need to see the seven wonders

I don’t need to check things

Off a bucket list

To turn my life into an adventure

No, I don’t need to accomplish

A lot in life

I just need to make it mine

Just as long as I end up happy

I’m perfectly fine

With being ordinary

Yes, yes, yes! I don't need anything fancy, I don't need (or even have) a "dream job," I just need to not lose touch with myself and have the people I love standing by my side.

I liked your logic in your words.
"No, I don’t need to accomplish
A lot in life
I just need to make it mine
Just as long as I end up happy
I’m perfectly fine
With being ordinary"
Good to have what we need. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I like the simplicity of this message, something straightforward, and yet, also refreshing. This is the kind of life that it is so hard to lead these days, with the 24-7, capitalist, greed based society that we live in now. It feels like a hark back to simpler times, when there weren't so many choices to make, and we could more easily live an "ordinary life"...
Thanks for sharing this heartfelt write....:)
