Why Can't I Wake You?

I never seem to be able to wake you

Why can't I wake you?

What is it that stops me?

Is the world of dreams

Truly better than this reality?

Is it that you need whatever sleep 

That you rarely can get?

Is it that I simply wish to watch you breath?

Or that I have never been one to wake you?

Why do you sleep so much,

While I stir?

Dear LawrenceA,

I enjoyed this poem. It could be simply not being able to wake someone or it could be seen from a subconscious point of view. I thought every word was precise and intended or with purpose. I preferably like, "Is it that you need whatever sleep/That you rarely can get?" because it shows a kind of characteristic of the person you are trying to wake.

[Coyote Poetry]

Sometime dreams can be better then real life. Good questions raised in the poem. Hard to wake someone in a perfect and peaceful slumber. A strong ending to a excellent poem.
