IVAN THE TERRIBLE

IVAN THE TERRIBLE

A Poem by Laylah

Lash me, slash me, and beat me to the ground;

You put chains on me to ensure that I am bound!

My efforts all fruitless;

For my cries to your deaf ears are all bootless!

You come at me with unimaginable force;

Your aim is purely to destroy me.

Even though I, so humble and so meek;

You tear me down when I am weak!

With eyes of a fox;

You keep coming at me with strength of an ox!

Your eyes, burning coals;

In a ragging fit you throw stones at me as if they were bowls!

O, Lord deliver me from these evil hands;

As I trouble the heavens with my feeble cries!

Suffer me no more, Ivan I pray;

For in your arms, that’s where I’m bound to meet my fate!

Your victory, you may stand tall;

By your hands, you seek to take control of me.

In my darkest hour, I pray Lord do keep;

That someday soon should Ivan dare?

Find love in his heart for me buried there!
