You Said

You Said

A Poem by Alexa L. Draven
"

"Corpse Bride" inspired me to write this.

"
You said you loved me,
your lies clouded my reality.
You said you'd be devastated if I died,
but now I'm dead and not once have you cried.
You said you would never let me get hurt,
unfortunately, your hidden plan worked.
You said I was the only one for you,
but to my dismay, that wasn't true.
You said you were the person I could trust,
but sadly, it was at a high cost.
You said you couldn't live without me,
yet, I haven't seen you grieve.
You said I was yours and you were mine,
you led me to believe everything fine.
You said I was and always would be your heart,
but you made sure mine would never again start.
You said everything I wanted to hear,
you fogged my judgment, made it unclear.
You said I was the best thing you had found,
but because of you, I'm rotting underground.
You said I was the girl of your dreams,
you weren't as perfect as you seemed.
You said I was everything you imagined me to be,
but once you were through, you killed me.
