Fear

Fear

A Poem by Alexa L. Draven

Am I death?
drawing away a final breath.
Am I depression?
blackening a soul with dreadful repressions.
Am I a gun?
shooting a piercing bullet at someone.
Am I a knife?
gruesomely stealing a life.
Am I an axe?
morbidly slaughtering with a few whacks.
Am I a deadly flame?
causing a person to perish in extreme pain.
Am I a cable?
strangling until a person's life is no longer stable.
Am I poison?
causing a beating heart to come undone.
Am I a lethal amount of pills?
causing a person's chest to become still.
Am I the demon lurking in the shadows you wish not to find?
perhaps I'm the fear you've created deep within your mind.
