Speak

A Poem by Alexa L. Draven
"

A poem for Rape Awareness month.

"

When Emily was two, she was raped by her father,
what beast would do that to his daughter?
When Elizabeth was three, she was raped by her babysitter,
now her heart is distant and bitter.
When Edward was four, he was raped by a family member,
they may not know it, but he will always remember.
When Scarlett was five, she was raped by her mo
ther's boyfriend,
her fear of older men will never mend.
When Charlotte was six, she was molested by her best friend,
the trust he built was all pretend.
When Lilly was seven, her father's friend molested her,
now she can't stand to look into the mirror.
When Alexander was eight, he was touched by his uncle,
the good Alexander saw in people, he stole.
When Melody was nine, she was raped by someone she didn't know,
he kidnapped her and for years, he never let her go.
When Lydia was ten, she was violated by her cousin,
she feels nothing but disgust within.
When Lucy was eleven, a group of guys took turns,
her soul aches and burns.
When Gretchen was twelve, she had been raped for years,
every night, her face is stained with countless tears.
When Harley was thirteen, she was raped by her first date,
he left her with emptiness and hate.
When Adam was fourteen, he was raped by his teacher,
trustworthy people are the most disgusting creatures.
When Luna was fifteen, at a party, she was raped, beaten, and left for dead,
she still hears his vicious words inside her head.
When Charlotte was sixteen, her hurt her again, this time it was rape,
he's her past, her present, and her future, there's no escape.
When Hunter was seventeen, he was raped by his step-dad,
he took away the life Hunter had.
When Autumn was eighteen, she was drugged and raped in college,
up to this day, no one has any knowledge.
The past may be painful to talk about,
but don't suffer in silence, speak out.
