If Only

If Only

A Poem by Alexa L. Draven

If only you were brave,
I wouldn't be rotting in a grave.
If only you spoke up,
one word would have been enough.
If only you realized soon,
I wouldn't have reached my doom.
If only you noticed before,
I would have lived for something more.
If only you listened to your heart,
you could have saved me from the start.
If only you had talked to me,
in this darkness, I would have found beauty.
If only you did more than stare,
my soul wouldn't have been so bare.
If only you walked into my life,
I would have lasted longer in this world's wicked strife.
If only you told me what I needed to hear,
you would have stopped my lonely tears.
If only you said you were here all along,
I wouldn't have thought living was wrong.
If only you said you didn't want me to leave,
my breathing wouldn't have become a final heave.
If only you told me that you understand,
my life wouldn't have ended by my hand.
