Hold Your BreathA Poem by Alexa L. DravenThis is an old poem I had written 12 or 13 years ago when I was a teenager. Just wanted to upload it.
I know something much more deadly than gas,
Something that does not kill you as fast. This cold-blooded disease takes its time, It torments you until you lose your mind. The symptoms are warmth and happiness, But it'll result in mourning and distress. It disguises itself as craving desire, But underneath it is the scalding flames of fire. How can you want something that causes you pain? Sucking all your emotions until you're drained. Love is crowding the oxygen, don't breathe the air, Love it's not a dream, love is a f*****g nightmare. The definition of love is harmful toxic, The joyous advertisement is all a trick. Don't be fooled by the so-called "wonderful things", Once it's bared, it's nothing but pure suffering. The value of love is worth lower than dirt, You're just setting yourself up to get hurt. Whatever you do, don't breathe it in, When against this lie, you'll never win. When it's through with you, you'll be dead inside, Your life stolen from all the tears you've cried. Love is in the air, so hold your breath, Unless you want your heart to bleed to death. © 2025 Alexa L. Draven |
