The first poem I've written in years since I quit writing. The is dedicated to my husband, the love of my life ❤️

How did you capture my gaze without even trying?
You brought color into my soul I swear was dying.
Why does it feel like I know you?
When we first locked eyes, it felt like deja vu.
Why does it feel like we've done this all before?
Just one conversation with you and I want more.
How is it that you can finish my sentences?
You quickly and effortlessly brought down my defenses.
How did you appear in my life as easily as a summer breeze?
Only when I first met you did I feel the ache of a missing puzzle piece.
After years of tears, did I finally find my other half?
You don't even have to lift a finger to make me laugh.
Do you think we've met in another life as well?
I will follow you anywhere you dwell.
Why does being in your arms feel like the only thing that makes sense?
In you I've found a lover, a companion, a best friend.
Why does being with you feel like a reward after years and years of this world's ruthless strife?
Loving you is the one thing I've ever been sure of in my entire life.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
I never did until I saw your light.
How can it be so simple to be myself with you instead of wanting to hide?
I want to spend eternity and forever right by your side.
Do you wonder if we'll find each other over and over, our lives connected by fate?
I know we will, you're my soulmate.
