BarbieA Poem by Alexa L. DravenFrom my teenage archives.
Helplessly lost in a world of false perfection,
Scared to death by your natural reflection. Indulging yourself with the fantasies in magazines, But not everything is exactly as it seems. You try to follow the path of illusions and lies, Look closely and you can see the deceit in their eyes. You don't know what's hidden behind closed doors, Don't let their bullying pressure fool you anymore. You spend countless hours in front of the mirror, Trying to create the perfection you wish you were. The sociopathic media has brainwashed your mind, All the wrong answers, you are seeking to find. You paint your face with make-up of a clown, Your true identity, you desperately try to drown. You starve your body to become thin, Because in your bible, food is a sin. You over-medicate on diet pills, All your flaws, you try to kill. You would do anything, even sell your soul, To satisfy this truth-consuming hole. You're nothing but hollow inside, You've lost yourself trying to hide Your own true beauty, you fail to see, Now you're just another fake, plastic Barbie. © 2025 Alexa L. Draven |
