After Dark

A poem I wrote for my first boyfriend. (Even though he didn't deserve it)

We both have dreamed of running far away,
Already gone before the birth of a new day.
A place where you and I can finally be together,
Where our tragic lives will become so much better.
Dispersing from the horrid disease-ridden insects,
No longer under the mercy of slander and reject.
Away from all the victimizing schemes,
Where we won't hear their hostile screams.
As one, we will live a life of our own,
No more will we be abandoned and alone.
Soon, all the wounding words will disappear,
We'll stitch the scars by running from here.
We will leave this place, causing you to become cold,
I will keep you warm, I am always yours to hold.
We'll escape the demons composed of abuse and greed,
Our boundless love is all you and I will ever need.
We will leave our unpleasant lives behind,
True bliss, I know we will finally find.
We'll be safe, locked in each other's arms,
We will keep each other away from harm.
We have waited for this moment for so long,
In my heart, I know this plan is far from wrong.
In this world of darkness, you are my star,
My love, our true life starts after dark.
