Writing a comment to this inspired my muse to get off his butt and do some work! Also, I can relate-- which is far less poetic than what I'd originally written, but makes the same point

I started smiling as soon as I read this. The muse forces us there, doesn't she? She forces us there even if we then sit for hours, pen in hand, not knowing what to write.

aint that the truth. i roasted my ornery muse over open coals years ago. I use a banshee now. The screaming is a little unsettling but she is much more reliable.
