What we unleashed
We can not restrain.
The poison in its breath
Taints, with disdain,
This collective soul.
Splintering cohesion,
Splitting unity,
While spitting derision.
Venomous rhetoric
Drips vehemently
Infiltrating wounds
Inflicted deliberately.
Viciousness becomes
The nomenclature
By which its identity
Bares the tincture
Of carnage created
Through the chaos of schism.
This harbinger of divisiveness
Relishes the coming cataclysm
As we stand, scattered,
Unable to comprehend
The approaching demise
Concocted by our own hand.

The tragedy in the making isn't what opponents are against but - what supporters see as glorious. Money does not make wisdom.

What and wherever the politics there births a voice of reason.. yours. Too little diplomacy, too much rabble-rousing in any country is a FEAR to be noticed, considered and, NOW.

this is so timely....and is the kind of universal that will stay timely in years ahead.

the image of America is really in hot water right now...we have lost so much respect...
but the derision, the wounds, the bleeding...evident even now in our primaries...the scathing attacks...we are a nation so divided...and you have really presented this idea in a wickedly good poem that has short sharp lines ---and cutting imagery.

and yes, we seem unable to comprehend the approaching demise...as you have said.
