Stone Park Ritual

Tread lightly within this hallowed park

And listen for sounds deemed spiritual,

For these standing stones sing haunted songs.

Thus, a requiem for our ritual.

Feel the cadence of decadence

Played beneath these marbled monuments.

Measures syncopated by the worms

That find unity in this movement.

A euphony of cacophony!

Macabre, melancholic melodies

Rendered by a legion relentless.

This mournful legato...their legacy.

I love the feel of this, the internal rhymes, the play on words and sounds to create the feeling of both silent ritual and grating noise of metal music. My only critique would be that the first stanza sets up a beautiful form / scheme and it isn't continued in the rest. Though one could argue that it was intentional to continue the feeling of run away music.

This has sort of a rock and role feel to it. Its very rich, dark and deep. I like the last stanza in particular with the alliterated phrases and the talk of their legacy. I think that is a nice touch. This would be a killer opener indeed. I think I will give them a look!
