Very nice description, and a long journey summed up in three lines without anything going amiss.
I particularly like that each line represents a "step" on the journey, and, at least I would think that the journey on the river is the longest, that part being represented by the line with the most syllables.

There's something about this that I really love, particularly the way you're able to paint this picture with so few words.
