A simple star you are not

A floating hexagon of white

Drifting silently on the ice breeze

Your intricate pattern stays unseen

Nature's finest work dissolved

On my heated windscreen

Neatly divided into segments of six

Water at its most imaginative

Each of you is somehow unique

You come in as an army

Crystallising the world
