I - In the Shallows

I - In the Shallows

A Chapter by Leigh

Standing in the shallows up to his knees he could see that the water diverter had been blocked, so without thinking he leant forward to unblock it and as he did he lost his balance, but it was as though he was pushed, pushed by someone. He turned to see a shadow behind him and fell. Then there was a pain, a blinding, stabbing pain in his chest that consumed him and took him over, and grew until he felt all his energy and the lifeforce inside him fade away.

The eight figures that stood over him as he suffered, beginning to float away in the icy waters of the Black Hills River were grim and ashen faced and spared him no mercy with their expressionlessness. What about his plans? he dreamily thought and what about the house and Letti? what about…? but it was no good, he couldn’t fight it any longer; all was dimming into darkness, all was quiet and then everything was silent.

One of the figures stood forward in a flash of red and gold and said ‘We must hide him’

Nice work. Very clever. I wouldn't be surprised if you were a sociopath of some kind. (that last part is a bad thing)
